Dispense with it! This is the first known automobile advertisement, in Scientific American 1898. Incidentally, with inflation, 1/2 cent a mile comes out to around 14 cents a mile in today's dollars. And the car around $28,888. Not a poor man's vehicle, but then, neither was a horse.
